Areas of Concentration (AOCs)

Family Medicine training should be able to adapt to the unique needs of the individual! We'll give each resident a strong foundation, but we allow for personalized curricular experiences for each resident.  There's beauty in DIVERSITY!

Personalized training

Residents have long desired to tailor their educational experience around areas of concentration, or interest.  One of the greatest things about the field of Family Medicine is the great diversity of opportunities within the field for further training and expertise!  Our residents are offered elective time to explore pertinent interests, but with the new development of structured Areas of Concentration (or AOCs), we've given our residents greater direction and guidance in exploring a focus that can carry through beyond just the elective time, but be a true longitudinal curriculum that provides growth during the entire three years.

Current AOCs include:

  • Advocacy
  • Faculty Development
  • Women's Health
  • Global Health
  • Sports Medicine
  • Geriatrics

Additional AOCs being developed/considered:

  • Rural Training
  • Inpatient Medicine (Hospitalist)
  • Osteopathic Manipulation Medicine (OMM)
