In the fall of 2017, we opened OhioHealth Family Medicine- Grant, our state-of-the-art, custom-built office located downtown directly across the street from our hospital. As of July 2019, all three classes of residents have begun seeing patients in this incredible new facility, allowing seamless integration between the inpatient and outpatient arenas.
Continuity: Our residents start with their own panel of patients as interns and grow that practice throughout their 3 years of training.
Full spectrum family medicine: We prepare our residents to practice in any setting. Whether residents practice in a rural, suburban, or urban environment, they are prepared to provide patient education and preventative medicine, partner with patients for chronic disease management, as well as handle acute, urgent medical issues for their patients.
Practice management: We also have built into our curriculum a longitudinal exposure to practice management to ensure residents learn contract negotiation, coding, staffing, and other office management necessities. This includes a concentrated week-long 3rd year Practice Management Boot Camp to provide high yield practice management pearls when most applicable.
Team-Based Care: Residents participate in daily huddles with multidisciplinary teams, including MAs, RNs, Lactation Consultants, Social Workers, Financial Counselors, and Community Health Workers prior to each office session.
Our residents have opportunities for exposure to most outpatient procedures including:
Punch/ Excision/Shave biopsies
OB Non Stress tests
Intrauterine Devices (IUDs)
Joint and Soft Tissue Injections
Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine
Lipoma/Inclusion Cyst Removal
Incision and Drainage of Abscesses
